OU Takes Out the Corn
Oklahoma got a big game out of quarterback Paul Thompson and beat Nebraska 21-7 in last night's Big 12 Championship game. Thompson was 19 of 34 for 365 yards and 2 touchdowns in the game and constructed an impressive, game-changing 99-yard TD drive in the third quarter. Facing a third and 10 from OU's "half-yard" line, Thompson hit tight end Jermaine Gresham for a 35-yard gain. Thompson later ended the 11-play drive with a three-yard TD pass to Malcom Kelly and a 21-7 lead. The win should put the Sooners in the Fiesta Bowl against 12-0 Boise State.

Pretty Much Official
Lousiana-Monroe did their part, but Florida International couldn't pull off the upset of Troy. FIU (0-12) lost 26-13 after leading 7-6 early in the game. ULM beat Louisana-Lafayette 39-20 (interesting score) in the other game KU needed for a shot at an at-large birth. The Troy (7-5) win makes them champions of the Sun Belt and earns them a bid to the New Orleans Bowl. That should put 7-5 Middle Tennessee St. in the final at-large spot -- the Motor City Bowl in Detroit vs Central Michigan on December 26.
