After KU fans struggled through the valley of darkness for four straight Saturdays, can you really blame them for falling head over heels for Todd Reesing? Check in on the message boards and you here all kinds of crazy talk. Oh well, that's what fans do, but when it spreads to the "real media," you get an idea of the type of performance that the kid from Texas put on while carrying the 'Hawks to their first Big 12 win of the year. Tom Keegan's article from the Lawrence Journal-World is a prime example. When you project a season's worth of games, it's clear you've been struck by lightning.
"Reesing’s numbers for a half projected over 12 games are a completion percentage of 64, 48 touchdown passes, 24 interceptions, 2,544 passing yards, 2,160 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns."
--Tom Keegan, Lawrence Journal-World
With only a radio broadcast available this Saturday, it's pretty tempting to head up to Ames just to see if the kid can pull it off again. Yet again another comparison to the Brentwood Bomber. As dire as the 2002 season was, I remember always being excited to head out to Memorial stadium because I knew Bill Whittemore was going to do something special. I think we saw some of that in Reesing and if he can show it again, it would definitely be worth a trip to Jack Trice.
